At SCCA (Seattle Central Creative Academy based in Seattle Central College), I create my own educational content and course objectives for each college level course. That includes developing the lectures and materials, writing the project’s creative briefs, creating weekly in-class assignments and major projects, and establishing the grading rubric. Each class meets for 5 hours, 11 weeks a quarter. I teach 2 sections with a total student count of roughly 40 per graduating class.

During the Covid crisis, I adapted my courses to teach and creative direct projects remotely.

I make connections with local businesses (for example: Talking Rain for a Pop Up assignment in my Environmental Graphics class) so the students not only get real-world assignments, but contacts for their job search. I reach out to thought leaders to come speak and lend their brains for an hour.

I’ve been on staff at SCCA since 2018 and The courses I’ve taught are: Advertising, Environmental Graphics, Special Topics, and Professional Practices. The students earn an Associate of Applied Sciences at the end of their 2 year term.

I’ve also taught for The School of Visual Concepts since 2010. I’ve taught Graphic Design Basics, Advertising Layout, and Creative Thinking and Concepts. As well as being an instructor, I have served as a curriculum advisor for the school’s Visual Design for Digital certificate program.

Each class I teach for both SCCA and SVC is reviewed anonymously by the students. Those are intern reviewed by the school’s administrator at the end of every quarter.
